1. Review of Norms
2. Annual Report Discussion
Discussion - try to pull together this list and pull together a more concise data point. There is a new format of what the building principals bring to the board. They address some of the items like achievement. Wade will get the form for us to be able to put some of these items in the format.
3. Program Review
Gabe is currently leading the Vision 21 Program Review. They are collecting data directly related to Vision 21 but ours will look a little different. Look at former studies as directly related to student achievement - but we need new data supporting these items. We need to define or re-define our role in the district. Shelly and Wade will lead the program review and whether tech goes at the same time and yes they will start their review. Where does the technology curriculum review fit? They are trying to find out what pieces belong in the puzzle and where is all of this included? There needs to be accountability and assessments related to these items. Are the elementary tech teachers a program or a curriculum? Both?? Another discussion - is how different the buildings are in there make-up of these areas. There is a meeting scheduled with the elementary principals - about load - no load, technology teachers - but defined differently. Media roles are different. Wade and Shelly are trying to find out why they are different.
Wade is asking our help for his research. What are our key questions or ideas to ask ?
1. Curriculum vs Program - what's the difference? what is the time frame?
2. Recognition of Media Specialist roles - administrators of a program, teachers, resource people, community partners, the job description will be judged and is it reflective of what your role is. This needs to be brought up and defined. Possibly two different parts of this - a curriculum piece and a program piece.
Wade would like us to look at the what the program will be, what do we want to focus on, spend time identifying what the program or curriculum will be, what models are out there that we can look at to find out what other people are doing and pull together a framework for what work we will do.
What is our vision - there is not media in tech - we need to define our identity - and how do we connect the tech plan, tech integration and tech teachers and point us in the same direction so we're not so inconsistent.
Do this now so next year - we can move forward.
Start aligning and setting priorities - who does what and how are they all connected. Once we figure out what our path is - then we need to sell it to district leadership. We need to bring the peer coaching documents into the discussion to understand value. We need to paint a picture and tell a story of the program. The structure is very fragmented right now, we need to try and pull that together.
Jill Johnson - is in charge of the principals she needs to align what they are doing. We need to help Wade frame this.
To Do: - Getting information from other school districts, build our own framework, everyone should look at compiling some information. Fit our list of items into the three parts of the job , small group of key leaders in the process who can help coordinate the gathering of information- who is available to get out of duties to help meet with Wade - Tina, Jenn, Judy St. Cyr, Deb M. will meet to try and bring back and build the frame around items gathered.
4. Professional Development App
MEMO has not been able to work out a deal with AASL - they are still trying. Sally said to assume the full cost at this time. MEMO will have a "Gala" the night before the conference, but no regular conference. I'll (Judy) bring the info to the meeting on Friday.
